This summer has and is going to be spent away from home. That being said, I find that in times when I am homesick or stressed books provide the best company. Before leaving
New York, I acknowledged the possibility of these feelings and therefore created a summer reading pile, adding some along the way, for which I am determined and eager to complete.
Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan
I am currently reading Brain on Fire at the moment, as it came highly recommended, and I cannot tell you how many times I have been stopped while reading it with people telling me/asking me how good it is.
Head Over Heels by Rain Mitchell
(Evidence that the dollar store book selection has its possibilities)
A Vindication of the Rights of Women by Mary Wollstonecraft
The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander
Paper Towns by John Green
Only four more pages to go. I am such a sucker for not only YA literature but any novel by John Green. His novels display genuine characters aching with life, and beautifully intertwined within their stories are lines so poetic and enlightening.
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Are you reading anything good this summer? What are some of your favorite books?
